Favourite Basic Tees

The perfect white t-shirt can be hard to find. We all know that white isn't always flattering. When it's too tight, or too see-through, it highlights all the things you want to hide. However, with that being said,  I think my search is finally over! That's probably why I have 5 of them :) And that's not including the 7 I bought in different colours!

I love Old Navy's Lightweight V-Neck Tees.

They come in a variety of colours and sizes - starting from XS to XXL in Regular, Tall and Petite. To give you an indication of what size to choose from (especially if you're going to purchase it online), I'm 5'4", and a S, Regular falls right below where the zipper of my jeans start.

Originally priced at $12.50, they are now $6.00! That might explain why the white and black tees are almost impossible to find. Good news - as mentioned above, you can order them online. I have always been lucky to find some sort of a promotion, whether it's free shipping or an additional 20% off your entire purchase. I did my first online order before Christmas, and it came within 2 days! The best part? You can always return them to your closest store if you're not 100% happy with it.

Although they're quite sheer from the lightweight material, it fits loose enough to be flattering and comfortable. I don't ever find myself sitting down and adjusting around my tummy area because I feel self-conscious. A nude bra underneath the white tee will work perfect!

I bought a dozen Old Navy tees in less than a month. It is definitely one of my most favourite things at the moment! Check out the tee's online by clicking the link below: http://oldnavy.gapcanada.ca/browse/product.do?cid=72246&vid=1&pid=810130&scid=810130243.

Happy Shopping!

Liquid Eyeliners

Have you ever put on eyeliner, only to have it smudge all over your top lid? Because of the shape of my eyes, I used to constantly have residue from my eyeline application. At times it was embarressing, but most of all, it was time consuming to constantly fix!

In the last year, I have been lucky enough to find two great liquid eyeliners. The first one was recommended to me by my best friend after her trip to Asia. It is the Kiss Me Heroine Make Smooth Liquid Eyeliner.

The felt-tip liquid pen makes it easy to apply, and after a quick shake, the fluid comes out smoothly. Aside from it being smudge proof, sweat proof, and oil resistant - it really stays on all day. And you know the best part? Without rubbing your skin off and using greasy eye make-up remover, it comes off easily with warm water.

One of its best features is the fine brush point at 0.1mm. When you have very subtle double lids like mine, sometimes it gets lost with a thick eye line application. The fine point on this eyeliner makes it easy  for me to stay close to my lash line.

So where can you buy?... I've only seen it in black so I'm not sure if it comes in any more colours. I stocked up on a few before my girlfriend came back from Hong Kong for good. It's about $7 Canadian if you can get someone to buy it for you. If not, I've seen them in the beauty stores at Pacific Mall for $20. It is a little bit pricey, but it lasts a long time. I can use a pen for 6 months, and by then, you really should've already replaced it.

My next favourite is by Physicians Formula, and it's the Eye Booster 2-in-1 Lash Boosting Eyeliner + Serum. I like it because it is very similar to the Kiss Me eyeliner mentioned above. Just like Kiss Me, it is a felt tip pen that is equally long wearing and smudge proof! As you can see from the picture, its tip is also very fine. I would say the pigmentation is not as dark, but after applying two layers, it looks the same to me! This eyeliner is a Japanese formulation, and it comes in three colours: deep brown, black, and ultra black. The added bonus is its claim that it will enhance the appearance of your lashes with every application. On top of that, it's hypoallergenic, fragrance free, and paraben free.

I've been using this eyeliner for the last month, and although I don't really notice my eye lashes looking longer or fuller, it truly is a great every day eyeliner that is easy to apply and easy to get a hold of. You can find this eyeliner at most drug stores, including Walmart. The best part... the price. I found this at Walmart for less than $14 - currently it's on roll-back for $9! If you have the same problems with smudging and small double eyelids, I highly recommend trying either of these eyeliners. I hope you like them as much as I do!

Welcome!

I've decided to start this blog from the encouragement of a very special friend! You know who you are, so hopefully with your continued support, I will continue updating this on a regular basis.

In the last year, I've become a bit obsessed with make-up. I've been trying a lot of stuff, and found things that I really love. Although I think the majority of my favourite things will be beauty products related, I don't think I experiment it enough to have a complete blog dedicated to that. You will probably find a whole bunch of miscellaneous stuff in here as well.

I hope you, and whoever reads this will find it useful. So... without rambling on, I will begin with one of my current favourite things:

American Apparel Nail Polish

While having lunch with my cousin, I couldn't help but notice her nails. She had a perfect shade of gray, with very sparkly accent thumbs  (I will get into accent nails in another post). When I complimented her on her nails, she told me about the group deal she bought from Team Buy - 5 nail polishes for $15 at American Apparel.

I have to admit, I can bit a bit of a brand snob when it comes to nail polish. I usually only purchase colours from Essie, OPI, and Borghese. However at $3 a bottle, it was a deal that was too good to pass up... and I'm so glad I didn't!

With over 50 colours to choose from - you can imagine... I was standing at the counter for quite some time! Their collection is made up of: Classic, Glitter, Neon, and Metallic colours, and all are DBP, toluene, and formaldehyde-free. Finally after some debate, I choose (from left to right in the picture): Echo Park, Constellation, Downtown L.A., Neon Violet, and Silver Jazz.

When I got home, I couldn't wait to try out the colours, so I painted each new colour on top of my existing nail polish. As you can see in the picture, with just one coat, the colours are extremely opaque. It didn't streak, and went on so easily! I was especially impressed with the Neon colour. I can't wait to wear it next!

Now that the deal from Team Buy has expired, the nail polishes are back to $9.00 a bottle. Although they aren't cheap, I really do recommend them - especially if you're looking for a funky, vibrant colour.
